You want a large turn out for an auction sort of fund raiser. The more people, the more money you will raise. But on a selfish note the crowd was smaller and perfect. Much is to be said for enjoying yourself, the art, being able to meet people and network. It makes for a more pleasant experience and that it was.
A Stokes Me event held in San Clemente at Noll Surfboards and sponsored by Primo beer (who was just handing out 22 oz bottles…Nice….) food was available and of course the Noll family, Mezak family, legend Tom Morey, art and surf lovers alike were all in the house. It was a warm welcoming atmosphere and the walls were filled with the art work of Trevor Mezak. From his pallet knife musicians and women to his iconic surfing art that he is now incorperating Disney characters into. Mickey getting barreled!
With the bidding stopped with Hanna Lohde at 1,700.00 a beautiful thing happened when someone called out I have a hundred and she can keep the surfboard starting a chain reaction. People then started donating to the cause $50.00 here $100.00 there, even a couple $500.00 donations getting the total to an impressive $4,600.00 earning $2,900.00 more than the original $1,700.00….
So congrats to Hanna Lohde and a special thanks to Jed Noll, Trevor Mezak everyone else that chipped in on this beautiful piece for a beautiful cause and donated to the Stokes Me, Surfers Helping Humans.
