RESiNMAG.COM: Where are you from?
ROMAN ALEXANDER: Roman and Ryan are from Placentia. Matt is from Sonoma, Jeff is from Florida and Chad is from San Diego
RESiNMAG.COM: How did you guys come to be a band?
ROMAN ALEXANDER: Roman had been doing a solo acoustic coffee shop style thing until he met Ryan and they tried to start a 4 piece, They finally found Jeff and Matt and after a year of playing together and making an album Chad joined up.
RESiNMAG.COM: How long have you been together?
ROMAN ALEXANDER: We’ve been together since may 08.
RESiNMAG.COM: How many albums do you guys have?
ROMAN ALEXANDER: We just finished our 1st album and are working on our next right now.
RESiNMAG.COM: How would you describe your own music?
ROMAN ALEXANDER: On c.d. we are a mellow easy listening soul reggae vibe. Live we are a jam fusion of many genres from blues to rock to reggae and soul. The reason I say jam fusion is because we take the songs from the album and spice them up live to make you want to move your feet.
RESiNMAG.COM: Any creative differences among the group?
ROMAN ALEXANDER: Our dynamic is amazing I think, we all come from different backgrounds in music such as Romans soul, matt is blues, Jeff is reggae, Ryan’s punk and metal and Chad is jazz. But we all have a mutual appreciation for the music that we make together, which is really a melting pot of all these influences. That is why all of our songs meet different genres.
RESiNMAG.COM: Long term goals as a group?
ROMAN ALEXANDER: Our long term is to live comfortably, happy, and peacefully by doing nothing more than playing music. Big time money and fame are cool but so is comfortable living in a peaceful state of mind. So were grateful for whatever happens. We just want to jam for the rest of our lives with nothing to hold us back.
RESiNMAG.COM: Any musical schooling for anyone in the group?
ROMAN ALEXANDER: No school.
RESiNMAG.COM: How did you put out previous albums any help with funding?
ROMAN ALEXANDER: The previous album was all us, we grinded out 130 shows last year to pay for the album. It was like working really hard and not seeing anything in return until it was done and all of that hard work paid off. We believe in independence as a band, now we reap the benefits not some label.
RESiNMAG.COM: Are you working an a album?
ROMAN ALEXANDER: Right now we are writing songs for the next album. So it is definitely on its way, but it is in its infantile stage.
RESiNMAG.COM: Can you explain how the song writing process works?
ROMAN ALEXANDER: Song writing either comes from an idea that roman or matt has. Matt will come to roman with music and roman will write lyrics, or roman will come up with both. Then the whole band comes together to arrange the song and work out the kinks. To give matt or Roman all the credit for the writing is wrong because the flavor that the rest of the guys give the songs is the essence of what makes us who we are.
RESiNMAG.COM: Worst show turn out, performance, venu?
ROMAN ALEXANDER: I would say the worst show ever would be at this place in Pomona, I wont name any names but you play in a boxing ring. Our friend who is black was being harassed by some rednecks, when we would get of the shaky stage the juke box played death metal and we didn’t get a clap out of any one until we played a terrible rendition of bro hymn by Pennywise. Definitely was not our scene. For whatever reason the promoter wanted us back but we vowed never to play any bro infested boxing rings ever again.
RESiNMAG.COM: Favorite show ever played turn-out, performance or venu?
ROMAN ALEXANDER: Our best show was probably at a home brewers association festival in Ojai. There were a couple thousand people there and even though not all of them saw us play, the response was great, the stage was huge and the beer was delicious. By far the best time we’ve had besides being on the road.
RESiNMAG.COM: Any lessons that have been learned on your journey that you would like to pass on to young musicians?
ROMAN ALEXANDER: Don’t pay to play.
RESiNMAG.COM: Were can people find your music?
ROMAN ALEXANDER: myspace facebook itunes amazon.
RESiNMAG.COM: One good story from being on the road.
ROMAN ALEXANDER: Florida tour, the boys drove a 73′ rv to Florida it broke own ten times and ended up blowing up on the highway.
